Dr. Kamanaʻopono Crabbe has been the CEO (Ka Pouhana) at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) since January 2012, a semi-autonomous state agency whose primary charge is to empower Hawaiians and strengthen Hawaiʻi. His leadership priorities include restoring OHA’s integrity in the Native Hawaiian community. He remains focused on nurturing a sense of leadership commitment to Hawaiʻi by uplifting the “mana” and “mauli ola” of the Hawaiian community while collaborating with decision-makers across sectors. This vision is captured in his newest book, Mana Lāhui Kānaka.

Crabbe serves the community as a hoʻoponopono practitioner (trained by Abbie Napeahi and Howard Peʻa), chanter (trained by Kumu Hōkūlani Holt), and ‘aha ‘awa ceremony and protocol expert. Before joining OHA, he was the Director of Psychology Training at the Waiʻanae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, Hawai‘i’s largest FQHC. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and remains a licensed clinical psychologist helping countless families, youth and communities. He sits on several high-level policy and governing boards around the world and locally, including the Executive Committee of the Assembly of Austronesian Leaders; IUCN World Conservation Congress 2016, Steering Committee Member; Native Hawaiian Health Improvement Task Force, Co-Chair; The Native Hawaiian Justice Task Force, Vice Chair. Further, Crabbe established the nonprofit organization ʻAha Kāne, Foundation for the Advancement of Native Hawaiian Males in 2006.

Recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, he is humbled to receive the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education Leadership Award, American Psychological Association’s Minority Fellowship Program Predoctoral Fellowship, Mellon Fellow Mentorship, and the Hawaiʻi Psychological Association Patrick H. Deleon, Ph.D. Lifetime Achievement Award among many other cultural distinctions and formal awards recognizing his executive leadership accomplishments.
